Pandenoise: Noise map timeline of the Covid-19 pandemic
The Covid-19-based pandemic situation restricted the amount of people traveling and visiting public places. These restrictions reduced people activities and most probably also the noise levels at various places like streets, workplaces, train stations, etc. The relation between the lockdown and noise pollution is unclear yet.
In Pandenoise, we will collect the already recorded noise levels before and during the pandemic in public places. To this end, we will reach out to organizations and collect recordings from publicly available stationary monitoring stations. Further, we will perform new noise measurements during the slow recovering from the lockdown. We will normalize the different recording sources and statistically analyze in order to obtain a consistent picture of the noise situation before, during, and after the lockdown. As result of this project, we will create a map timeline showing the development of the noise pollution during the pandemic.
