The article compares, and contextualizes three short texts by Georg Philipp Harsdörffer (1607–
1658) from his works ›Poetischer Trichter‹ (1653), ›Mathematische und Philosophische Erquickstunden‹ (1651) and ›Artis Apophthelegmaticæ Continuatio‹ (1656), which approach the weather phenomenon of snow from different perspectives. In the context of the history of literature and knowledge in the 17th century, at the peak of the ‚Little Ice Age‘, snow appears as an inter- and transdisciplinary medium that allows the linking of different knowledge systems and aesthetic forms. Its description varies considerably depending on the publication context, target group, and purpose, whereby the eminent importance of compilatory and combinatorial procedures in Harsdörffer’s work becomes visible – but above all the remarkable power of integration in his texts, combining poetic and scientific elements and blurring the boundaries between natural science and poetry.
Der Beitrag vergleicht und kontextualisiert drei kurze Texte Georg Philipp Harsdörffers (1607–1658) aus dem ›Poetischen Trichter‹ (1653), den ›Mathematischen und Philosophischen Erquickstunden‹ (1651) sowie der ›Artis Apophthelegmaticæ Continuatio‹ (1656), die sich dem Wetterphänomen Schnee aus verschiedener Perspektive nähern. Im Kontext der Literatur- und Wissensgeschichte des 17. Jahrhunderts, auf dem Höhepunkt der ‚kleinen Eiszeit‘, erscheint der Schnee dabei als inter- und transdisziplinäres Medium, das die Verknüpfung verschiedener Wissenssysteme und ästhetischer Formen erlaubt. Seine Beschreibung variiert je nach Publikationszusammenhang, Zielgruppe und Zweck erheblich, wobei die eminente Bedeutung kompilatorischer und kombinatorischer Verfahren in Harsdörffers Werk deutlich wird, vor allem aber die bemerkenswerten Integrationsleistungen, durch die poetische und wissenschaftliche Elemente verbunden und die Grenzen zwischen Naturwissenschaft und Dichtung verwischt werden.
