President of the Austrian Academy of Sciences since 2013. He studied Physics and Mathematics at the Technical University of Vienna. After stages in the US (MIT), France, Australia and Germany he became full professor and head of the Institute for Experimental Physics at the University of Innsbruck in 1990 and 1999 at the University of Vienna. Research areas i. a.: quantum physics, quantum optics, quantum information theory. Anton Zeilinger’s international awards include the Wolf Prize, the King Faisal Prize of Science and the inaugural Newton Medal of the Institute of Physics (UK).
