‘European Tort Law: Basic Texts’ makes available, for the first time in a single volume, English versions of basic tort law texts from almost all the legal systems of the EU and EFTA. It includes key provisions of national civil codes and other important legislative enactments, as well as extracts from leading cases. This project is concerned with preparing a 2nd edition of the book.

The book European Tort Law. Basic Texts, which was published in 2011 and edited by Ken Oliphant and Barbara C Steininger, is a collection of key tort law provisions, in English, from the majority of European jurisdictions. The aim of the project is to update the 1st edition and to supplement it with contributions from three additional jurisdictions (Croatia, Russia and Turkey). The 2nd edition is to contain 30 country reports (from all EU countries, with the exception of Cyprus and Luxembourg, plus Norway, Russia, Switzerland and Turkey) and 3 special reports (EU Tort Law, EU Conflict of Laws and Harmonisation Projects). The project was launched by ETL in cooperation with ECTIL in the spring of 2016 and is led by Ernst Karner (ETL, ECTIL and Vienna University), Ken Oliphant (Bristol University) and Barbara C Steininger (ETL). Like the 1st edition, the 2nd edition was published by Jan Sramek Verlag, Vienna.
