Juristenrunde with Fang Shaokun

Professor Fang Shaokun, professor of Yantai University Law School and Jilin University Law School, holds a Juristenrunde lecture on the 'Codification of the Chinese Civil Code' on Wednesday, 8 January 2020, 11.00h.

Professor Fang Shaokun was born in Kangping County, Liaoning Province in October 1962. He graduated from the law department of Liaoning University in July 1985 with a bachelor's degree in law; from the law department of Peking University in July 1987 with a master's degree in law; from the Law School of Renmin University of China in July 2003 with a doctor's degree in law.

He has been teaching in the Department of law of Yantai University since July 1987, lecturer in 1991, associate professor in 1993 and professor in 1995. He has successively served as the dean of Law School of Yantai University, vice president of Yantai University and President of Yantai University. Now he is the professor of Yantai University Law School and Jilin University Law School. His research field mainly focuses on civil law, especially property law. Currently, he has published more than 200 academic articles and more than 30 monographs.

Professor Fang's presentation includes three parts: the first part deals with the compilation process of Chinese civil code, which mainly introduces the compilation process of Chinese civil code after 1949. The second part addresses the structure of the Chinese Civil Code, which mainly introduces the current structure of the codification of the Civil Code, focusing on the legislative style of personality rights, general provisions of obligation law, and tort liability. The third part outlines the main content of each part of the civil code.

The lecture language will be held in Chinese and translated into German.

The event takes place in the Institute's premises and is free of charge.
