Thorsten Schumm

Thorsten Schumm is an Associate Professor at the Vienna University of Technology. He is exploring novel approaches to precision measurements and metrology, using quantum effects and resources. Specifically, he is exploring nuclear transitions for the construction of high-precision frequency standards, as well as matter-wave interferometry with collective many-body wavefunctions. He has trained 5 PhD student and hosted 5 Postdocs. Future ESQ Postdocs can develop their research profile benefiting from a broad research background from ultracold quantum gases and many-body physics to nuclear physics, from laser development and precision spectroscopy to solid-state quantum physics.
