The OeAW represents Austrian scholarship in international academy associations, thereby making an important contribution to worldwide academic exchange and international policy advice.
ALLEA – All European Academies
All European Academies currently combines around 60 national academies of sciences from over 40 European countries. ALLEA promotes active information exchange between the academies and advises European science and society in the fields of university education, scholarship, research and innovation.
EASAC – European Academies Science Advisory Council
The European Academies Science Advisory Council combines the national academies of science of the EU member states. As a joint independent voice, EASAC makes science-based recommendations on political issues and current affairs to the EU institutions.
FEAM – Federation of the European Academies of Medicine
Combining academies of science from 17 European countries, the federation considers questions concerning human and veterinary medicine, biomedical research and health that are of central importance to the European Union. FEAM regularly provides scientific opinions informing the law-making processes of the EU.
Euro-CASE – European Council of Academies of Applied Sciences, Technologies and Engineering
The European Council of Academies of Applied Sciences, Technologies and Engineering unites over 20 European academies in the field of engineering and technology. Founded in 1992, Euro-CASE is a forum and voice for exchange between European institutions of industry and related research.
The H.R. Network – International Human Rights Network of Academies and Scholarly Societies
The OeAW is a member of the International Human Rights Network of Academies and Scholarly Societies, the H.R. Network for short. One of the network’s tasks is to defend persecuted scholars around the world.
IAP – InterAcademy Partnership
InterAcademy Partnership was officially founded in South Africa in March 2016 and brings together established networks of academies of sciences: the global network of science academies, the InterAcademy Medical Panel and the InterAcademy Council (IAC). The target groups for these networks’ advisory activities are international organisations such as the World Bank and the United Nations.
ICSU – International Council for Science
The International Council for Science is a non-governmental organisation with over 120 member organisations worldwide. The ICSU’s mission is to strengthen the international scientific community for the benefit of global society. Its long-term vision is a world in which scientific knowledge is used for the benefit of all and is applied efficiently in political decision-making.
