Summer School in Limyra, Turkey

»Arkeolojik Alanda Mimar - The Architect on Archaeological Sites« is the topic of the summer school held at the Limyra excavation of the Austrian Archaeological Institute in August. The workshop is conducted by Prof. Dr. Zeynep Kuban, Ass.Prof.Dr. Bilge Ar, Ass. Prof.Dr. Umut Almaç and Research Assistant Görkem Günay from the Technical University-Faculty of Architecture (ITÜ) in co-operation with the OeAI and adresses to students of ITÜ.

The one week workshop takes place from August 19-26 with the aim to teach architectural students through theoretical and practical classes the great variety of duties an architect can face at an archaeological site. The main focus is on documentation, starting from measured hand drawings. The students will have the opportunity to learn how to use modern technological measuring devices and to combine them with computer drawings. Apart from documentation the issue of site management and all kinds of architectural interventions necessary on an archaeological site will be explained and discussed during the workshop in practical classes during the day on the site and theoretical classes in the evening.
