CANADA AND AUSTRIA MEET FOR JOINT ACADEMY DAY

At this year's “Joint Academy Day” on March 18, global challenges such as climate change will be discussed from perspectives on this side and the other side of the Atlantic. The webinar event is open to the public and gives an insight into the societally current research topics that representatives of the Royal Society of Canada and the Austrian Academy of Sciences are working on.

For the third time, the OeAW is inviting representatives of a partner academy – this time the Royal Society of Canada (RSC) – to a multidisciplinary exchange on global challenges. Due to the pandemic, this year's “Joint Academy Day” will take place as a webinar and is explicitly aimed at the public.

Between 3:00 p.m. and 8:30 p.m. (CET) on March 18, those interested are invited to get to know Canadian and Austrian perspectives on topics such as “Arctic and Alpine Environmental Change”, “Multicultural Citizenship” and “Healthy Societies”. Three further panels are dedicated to the special responsibility of academies in the 21st century, interdisciplinary cooperation on global problems, and the COVID-19 crisis.
