The Fungal Genetics and Genomics Unit (FGGU) is a jointly funded research group of BOKU University and Austrian Institute of Techology established in 2006. The group is led by Joseph Strauss and members work on molecular genetics and functional genomics of fungal model organisms (Aspergillus, Fusarium, Trichoderma) with emphasis on transcription factor function and chromatin regulation, signalling pathways in primary (the nitrogen assimilation system) and secondary metabolism (mycotoxin formation) as well as on chromatin biology of fungal-plant interactions.
