Heating, Ventilating and Air Conditioning Systems – Controlling (Indoor) Climate and Implications for Climate Change

HVAC systems are key to indoor comfort and are increasingly used for outdoor activities like artificial snowing. Huge amounts of energy are used for heating, ventilating an air conditioning and the design and production of such systems is a prospering field.

This project will give an overview of social, economic and ecological dimensions of technologies being currently used in Austria. In addition, it will identify major strands of research and development in this area. The main outcome will be a comprehensive overview on the state of the art of climate technologies in Austria.

This report will be the basis for formulating further research questions concerning the role of HVACs and its public perception.
