Short Biography
Esengül Danisan is a guest researcher at the Institute for Urban and Regional Research (ISR) of the Austrian Academy of Sciences. She has studied City and Regional Planning and continued with an M.Sc. in Urban Policy Planning and Local Government at the Middle East Technical University in Ankara, Turkey. For her PhD (Seoul National University, KGSP fellowship), she has done research on the construction process of national identity through public space.
Currently, she is focusing on the placemaking experiences of displaced people as a way of developing social belonging and attachment to the host society. She is Assistant Professor at the Faculty of Economics and Administrative Sciences, Department of Political Science And Public Administration, Tarsus University.
