Biography
Christoph Novak started working on the YouBeOn project in 2020. He studied political science at the University of Vienna and continued with an MA in Culture, Diaspora, Ethnicity at Birkbeck College (University of London). From 2014 to 2016 he was employed by Swiss Paraplegic Research (Nottwil). Since 2017 he is a lector of Political Science at the University of Vienna.
In his PhD-thesis (cotutelle de these, Universities of Geneva and Vienna, DOC-fellowship) he investigated narratives of belonging of young Muslims living in Vienna and Zurich. For this research he was awarded with the Dissertation Award for Research on Migration by the OeAW.
Christoph Novak’s research focuses on life in diverse societies, with a special emphasis on manifestations of religion and race in urban spaces and youth culture.
