Biography
Hanneke Friedl was born in Johannesburg, South Africa in 1972. She studied Reformed Theology and Semitic Languages in Pretoria as well as Catholic Theology in Vienna. Her doctorate was completed in 2018 and dealt with the word ‘brother’ in the law codes of Leviticus and Deuteronomy. Currently she is working on an independent research project on a medieval Christian Arabic exegetical manuscript; further interests include Social Ethics and the Old Testament as well as Law and the Old Testament. She has been doing proofreading and translation work on theological texts since 1995, a function for which she is responsible at the CMI/ISR, along with other administrative duties.
