Marion Romberg is a research associate in the research unit History of the Habsburg Monarchy and works on the project ‘Empress and Empire. Ceremonial, media and rule from 1550 to 1740/45’ headed by Dr Katrin Keller. The project is funded by the Austrian Science Fund.

Brief Biography


Marion Romberg studied art history and history at the University of Vienna, as well as business administration in Germany, New Zealand and England. She received her PhD in history from the University of Vienna in 2016. She was awarded a Gerda Henkel Foundation scholarship and was a researcher on the projects ‘Erdteilallegorien im Barockzeitalter’ and ‘Die Tagebücher und Tagzettel des Kardinals Ernst Adalbert von Harrach (1598–1667). Edition und Kommentar’ funded by the Austrian Science Fund at the University of Vienna. She teaches at the University’s Department of History (since 2017) and is honorary editor of the scholarly portal Habsburg Discussion Network (since 2010). She is also a member of the board of the Austrian Society for 18th Century Studies (since 2008).
