Biography


Born in Vienna. Studies in Drama and Romance Philology at Vienna University. Lecturer at the University of Miami, USA, 1978–1981. Since 1982 collaborator at the Austrian Academy of Sciences: at the Institute of Audience Research; at the Commission of Theatre History; since 1999 at the Commission of Culture Studies and History of Theatre and since 2009 also deputy of the Institute of Culture Studies and Theatre History (IKT).

Areas of Specialization


History of Theatre of Vienna and Festivity Culture (18th to 20th century), "Avant-garde", “Burgtheater“ and its Audience, Prinz Eugen on Stage.
