Human experimentation as an interface between cultural and scientific history
In Kooperation mit dem Institut für Germanistik der Universität Wien und dem Verein ViennAvant
Human experimentation remains a poorly researched chapter in Viennese cultural history. This project will investigate the thesis that Nazi human experimentation ("Military Medical Research") resonated in the activities of the Viennese avant-garde after 1945. The aim is to map significant experimental cultures of the Viennese postwar period into a field of tension characterized by latent continuities and provocative breaks. The research regards itself as a pilot project for the Atlas of the Viennese Avant-gardes (AVA).
