Philosophy of Indian Buddhism

The position is to be filled at the earliest possible date.

In addition to conducting his/her own research on the philosophy of Indian Buddhism with historical-philological methods the successful applicant will collaborate in the editing of Sanskrit texts from the Tibetan Autonomous Region, within research groups at the institute and in international projects. In this context (s)he will also take on organizational and administrative duties.

A doctorate or equivalent degree in Indology or Buddhist Studies is required. The applicant is expected to demonstrate an active interest in methods and theories of Digital Humanities, especially Digital Philology. Knowledge of key technologies (especially TEI/XML) is desired, as well as experience in the conception and development of digital text corpora and analysis tools, especially for e-texts in Sanskrit.

The position is initially limited for six years. The salary is based on the collective agreement of the Austrian Academy of Sciences, with an entrance salary of 3.142,90 EUR. A higher salary is possible depending on qualification and prior work history.
