We provide some insight in our work as scientists, in a way apropriate for the age. We answer the questions: What are particles? And how can we study them? It is our concern to avoid lengthy talks, instead we motivate the children from the very beginning to find and ask their questions themselves. Our emphasis is on hands-on experiments and demonstrations, like a plasma ball, an influence machine, or an electronic construction kit. To demonstrate how a particle accelerator works, we bring a Gaussian gun. As concluding highlight, we start a water rocket in the school yard.
