Access to OeAW facilities

The Academy buildings, which were closed as part of the measures to contain the coronavirus, are opened again to employees in compliance with the applicable safety regulations.

The buildings of the Austrian Academy of Sciences (OeAW), which have been closed since March 17, 2020, are now accessible again. In compliance with the applicable safety regulations, such as the distance rules, employees can access the OeAW buildings and their workplaces at the Austrian locations of the Academy.

With this, the OeAW returns to normal research and administrative activity. Accompanying precautions and organizational steps ensure that the provisions and recommendations issued by the Austrian Government are strictly observed in the buildings of the OeAW. For the sake of employees’ health, rules regarding staggered attendance and a variety of other flexible organizational solutions are in use.

Restrictions for events and visitors

OeAW efforts to normalize the situation are coordinated with the current precautions to contain the coronavirus in Austria. As a preventative measure no public events are currently taking place at the OeAW. However, the Academy hopes to be able to host events again in autumn. Until then there are various OeAW online lectures providing access to information and knowledge from one’s home.

Furthermore the Academy thanks for your understanding that only those affiliated with the OeAW can enter the Academy buildings. For safety reasons, external visitors are permitted only after prior registration and approval.

The OeAW remains electronically accessible for all queries. Individual employees can be contacted via their individual email addresses (firstname.surname@oeaw.ac.at). The central administration of the Academy can be contacted via the email webmaster(at)oeaw.ac.at.
