A melting pot for Egypt's gold traders

3.500 years ago the Nile island Sai was nothing but a military stronghold. In the reign of Pharao Tutmosis III however it became a cultural melting pot and a hub for the Egyptian gold trade. OeAW archaeologists figured out how this transformation was possible.
