Academic background

After completing High School, Anton Noll attended the Vienna technical school for electrical engineering ('Höhere technische Bundeslehranstalt, Allgemeine Elektrotechnik'). He received a degree in Electrical Engineering in May 1980. In 1981, he was briefly employed by AKG Akustische und Kino-Geräte Ges.m.b.H. in Vienna, where he worked in the department of hardware and software development, focusing on digital signal development. Since 1982, he has been part of the team at the Acoustics Research Institute at the Austrian Academy of Sciences in Vienna.

Current research

His prime fields of interest are research and development of hardware and software for language and speaker recognition applications, phonetics, comparative and experimental musicology, zoological acoustics, and psychoacoustics. He is the head of the software team at the Institute and responsible for the design and development of the Institute’s integrated signal analysis software system STx.
