VLACH supports the dialectological diversity of the Macedonian language. As the Bulgarian-Macedonian dialect continuum shows transitional varieties especially to the east. VLACHS concentrates on some isolated dialects to the southern (Greece) and western part (Albania). The following activities and measures are being carried out during the first activity period of the VLACH Commission (2016-2021):
- field research conducted by Thede Kahl on Macedonian varieties in Greek Macedonia
- processing and editing of existing research material:
- annotation and incorporation of audio, photo and video collection on Prespa Macedonian in Albania, provided by Thede Kahl and Anna Kuzmina (2012), in cooperation with Xhelal Ylli
- publication and popularization of audio tracks, photo collection and video clips within the VLACH Macedonian collection until 2021
