He graduated in History of Science with a work about a collection of German dialects for Adolf Hitler, the so called ‘Lautdenkmal reichsdeutscher Mundarten’, a project which was partly realized by Austrian scientists together with scholars in Germany. Since November 2015, Jan David Braun is doctoral candidate at the Institute for Contemporary History in Vienna with a focus on the History of Dialectology.
From May 2016 to February 2017, Jan David Braun worked as a guest researcher at the research department, ‘Variation und Wandel des Deutschen in Österreich’ (‘Variation and Change of German in Austria’) at the ACDH.
Since March 2017, he has been a member of the go!digital project ‘Österreichische Dialektkartographie 1924-1956. Digitalisierung, Kontextualisierung, Visualisierung’ (‘Austrian Dialect Cartography 1924-1956. Digitalization, Contextualization, Visualization’).
