… received his doctoral degree from Cologne University in 1997. He is senior researcher and project leader in the department of musicology. He serves as editor-in-chief of Imago Musicae: International Yearbook of Musical Iconography, and as chair of the iconographical research network within the International Musicological Society. His research interests encompass a broad range of subjects from the Middle Ages to the twentieth century. Current work includes a multidisciplinary study of illuminated choirbooks in sixteenth-century Munich.
