ACDH Tool Gallery 5.1

With an increasing number of humanities researchers working with data oriented and computational methods, it is becoming more and more important to take into consideration aspects of data management and systematic ways of keeping this data organized – not just for the benefit of the internal organization of individual projects, but also in the interest of transparency and data reusability. With the Tool Gallery 5.1 the ACDH reacts to repeated requests from the community and provides a hands-on introduction to one specific aspect of data management: version control.

Especially relevant for researchers whose work involves the production of textual research data or code, version controlling provides a systematic way to organize and keep track of revisions and evolving versions of data. The ACDH Tool Gallery 5.1 will offer an opportunity for humanities researchers to get acquainted with the workflows of version control and explore the functionality of the popular, open source version control system GIT in a hands-on setting.
