Vienna, 26 September 2016
The ACDH Tool Gallery 2.2 ‘TEI Basics – A gentle introduction to Text Encoding’ takes place in the context of the TEI2016 conference. The event introduces researchers from different disciplines, who are doing text-based work in their research, to the TEI markup language. The ACDH Tool Gallery gives an overview of the ‘tag set’ of XML ‘elements’ that are used to encode texts, along with ‘attributes’ that are used to modify these elements and will show how the TEI standard is structured. After an introduction in the morning, the participants get an insight into two TEI-based projects before trying to encode their own text material according to the TEI standard with the guidance of experienced scholars and practitioners in the field. Participants are encouraged to bring their own laptops and short digital samples of their textual material.
The number of participants is limited to 40 on a first come, first serve basis.
Please bring your own laptop to the workshop.
ACDH Tool Galleries are free and open to all. Registration closed.
