Conference: Cultural Heritage-Research in the Digital Age

The conference aims to reflect on cultural heritage (CH) research in the digital age. Against the backdrop of CH research in the context of the ÖAW and specifically the Austrian Centre for Digital Humanities and Cultural Heritage (ACDH-CH), the lectures and discussions will explore the following thematic complexes and questions:

  • Positioning of the CH paradigm in research in the cultural sciences and humanities: Where does CH research stand in the 21st century? Which subcurrents are emerging? What potential does CH research have for the academic landscape and beyond? What critical voices can be heard and how should they be evaluated?
  • Discussion on the relationship between CH and DH: What is the relationship between CH and DH research in the 21st century in general and at the ÖAW in particular? What are the advantages, disadvantages and potentials of linking the two disciplines? What added value and what limitations do DH approaches have for CH research?
