12. November 2018 – 15. November 2018
ACDH @ Visual Heritage 2018 hosted by CHNT
Under the motto "DIGITIZE: RESEARCH – RECORD – REACTIVATE – RECONSTRUCT", this year's Cultural Heritage and New Technologies (CHNT) congress, organized by Vienna's municipal Urban Archaeology department and reimagined as "Visual Heritage 2018" in cooperation with the EG GCH (Eurographics Symposium and Graphics Cultural Heritage) will have a strong digitization focus.
As cooperation partner for the event, the ACDH has not only made curatorial contributions via the programme comittee, which features head of the institute Karlheinz Mörth, several ACDH employees will also be making their own contributions to the programme. This year, the ACDH is represented by a round table, two papers and a booth at the CHNT EXPO (a new annex to the conference added for the first time this year).
Under the title "Data Mountains - The great, the large, and the ugly", the Round Table organized by the ACDH's Martina Trognitz and Christoph Hoffmann will take place on 14 November at the Ahnensaal of the Vienna Hofburg as part of the panel "Digging Archaeological Data: Documents, Archives, Data Extraction and Visualization" (2-6 p.m.).
Both Martina Trognitz and Christoph Hoffmann are also featured in the programme with their own papers on Lessons learned from building a time-attributed partonomy for the 4D-visualization of the Vienna Hofburg (Gabriel WURZER, Christoph HOFFMANN, Elmar SCHMIDINGER, Herbert WITTINE, Richard KURDIOVSKY, Julia FORSTER, Andreas VOIGT) on 12 November and on Preservation of Archaeology Data in ARCHE (Martina Trognitz) on 14 November.
Finally, the ACDH will also be manning a booth at the CHNT EXPO to present its new repository service ARCHE. The EXPO takes place 10-15 November at the “Wiener Planungswerkstatt” (1., Friedrich-Schmidt-Platz 9) and has free admission.
