The working group “ERICs and Education” (E&E) is responsible for the ACDH-CH’s involvement in the European Research Infrastructure Consortia (ERICs) CLARIN-ERIC (Common Language Resources and Technology Infrastructure) and DARIAH-EU (Digital Research Infrastructure for the Arts and Humanities) and coordinates the Austrian activities in this field. Within Austria, CLARIAH-AT represents the joint efforts of these infrastructures and supports researchers from a broad range of disciplines in digitally pursuing their interests. The DHA conference is organised annually in cooperation with CLARIAH-AT by the ERICs team. On the European level, members of the ACDH-CH chair several working groups within these infrastructure projects, for example the DARIAH WG “Ethics and Legality in Digital Arts and Humanities” (ELDAH). This working group provides training and teaching materials on copyright, licensing, and data privacy issues relevant to humanities research on the one hand, and, on the other, develops tools such as the “DARIAH ELDAH Consent Form Wizard”, thus aiding researchers in legally pursuing their goals in multiple ways. Another working group coordinated by the ACDH-CH maintains and further develops the “DH Course Registry”, a platform jointly hosted by CLARIN-ERIC and DARIAH-EU. This important resource provides an overview of DH courses worldwide.
The Education team conducts a wide range of dissemination and outreach activities, developing and organising events and event series such as the popular ACDH Lectures, intended to put the local community in touch with international DH experts, their research and most recent developments in the field, or the ACDH Tool Galleries, that provide practical information and hands-on training for specific DH tools. The mediation of DH skills to fellow researchers in the Academy and beyond plays a pivotal role in these activities. An important facet of these activities is the successful ACDH-CH internship programme, which gives interns a first impression of DH research and conveys the scope of the institute's activities. Furthermore, the working group is involved in the dariahTeach platform, hosting open educational resources for the arts and humanities and organising digital round tables on online teaching. To further spread DH knowledge, some of our experts also teach at different universities.
Members of E&E are also involved in infrastructure-related research projects such as ELEXIS (European Lexicographic Infrastructure) as well as several research projects, relying on DH infrastructures.
