European and Asian Data Sheets 2012

By applying the multi-state model of population dynamics, including differential fertility, mortality and migration rates, the Wittgenstein Centre has produced projections of the European and Asian population by age, sex and four levels of educational attainment. The results are now presented with the European Demographic Data Sheet 2012 and the Asian Demographic and Human Capital Data Sheet 2012. In collaboration with the Vienna Institute of Demography, IIASA and the Asian Meta Centre the work from 2008 and 2010 has been updated, including more recent demographic and education data when available and more countries than were included in the previous rounds.

SSP Database (version 0.93), 05.2012

The SSP database aims at the documentation of quantitative projections of the so-called Shared Socioeconomic Pathways (SSPs) and related Integrated Assessment scenarios. The SSPs are part of a new framework that the climate change research community has adopted to facilitate the integrated analysis of future climate impacts, vulnerabilities, adaptation, and mitigation.
Currently (May 2012), the database includes projections for population and economic development, which are the elements that are most used as basis of both integrated assessment and IAV studies. Specifically, for the following elements quantifications are available:population by age, sex, and education; urbanization; and economic development (GDP).

Geburtenbarometer: Monitoring of Fertility in Austria
Geburtenbarometer Austria and Geburtenbarometer Vienna (launched in May 2010) are interconnected projects of the Vienna Institute of Demography, aiming to provide continuous monitoring of period fertility rates in Austria and in Vienna. The Geburtenbarometer provides quarterly and annual reports and regularly updated datasets.

The Human Fertility Database

With the Human Fertility Database (HFD) the Vienna Institute of Demography (VID), tgether with the Max Planck Institute for Demographic Research (MPIDR) in Rostock (Germany), provides access to detailed high-quality data on cohort and period fertility to a broad audience of users. It is an important resource for monitoring, analyzing, comparing, and forecasting fertility as well as for studying causes and consequences of fertility change in the industrialized world. The uniform format of HFD data will facilitate comparative analysis across countries and regions and encourage researchers to move beyond the simple indicators such as the period Total Fertility Rate.
