The Commission at the Austrian Academy of Sciences for complex interdisciplinary issues, with a focus on the research, documentation and use of biodiversity in Austria, as well as ecological long-term research.

The Commission publishes summarizing illustrations about biodiversity in Austria (Catalogues and check-lists), sponsors small-scale interdisciplinary research projects and deals with inter- and transdisciplinary issues, as commissioned by third parties.

The Commission interlinks the interdisciplinary ecological studies of both universitary and extra-universitary research institutions, and it represents the Academy in relevant organisations, at home and abroad.
