1988: Assistant Research Scientist -Austrian Science Foundation, Project No. 6514 E: Evolution and Chronology of the Cave Bear. Responsible for the determination and chronological evaluation of arvicolid remains from two different Austrian caves, Nixloch and Gamssulzen cave.
1988-1992: Assistant Research Scientist at the Department of Paleontology, Vienna Curator of the micro-mammal collections at the Paleontological Institute. Assisted in various field works in Austria (e.g. Herdengel cave, Schwabenreith cave), Switzerland (Apollo caves), Italy (Conturines cave). Secretary of the Austrian Paleontological Society.
1992-2001: Associate Research Scientist at the Department of Paleontology, Vienna
2001 recent: Associate Professor at the Department of Paleontology, Vienna. Organizing and executing excursions and excavations in Austria, Germany and Ukraine. Lectures for students in Paleontology. Secretary of the Austrian Paleontological Society from 1996-1998. From 2002 on Head of the Austrian Palaeontological Society. Participating in the PAR (Paleoanthropological Research) team doing field work in Galili (Pliocene, Ethiopia). Excavations and investigations of vertebrate remains from cave sites in Austria (Ochsenhalt cave), Slovenia (Potocka cave, Vindija cave), Italy (Pocala cave) and Greece (Loutraki cave). DNA testing of bone tools found in Potocka cave (Slovenia); in co-operation with the Slovenian Academy of Science, Ljublana and the Max-Planck Institute.
The ancient DNA of Pleistocene cave hyena and cave bear from Europe and its interpretation. In co-operation with Max-Planck Institute of Molecular Biology in Leipzig, Germany). Sponsored by the Max-Planck Institute and the Commission of Quaternary Science of he Austrian Academy of Science.
Vertebrate mammals from archaeological sites (e.g. Emine-Bair-Khosar cave, Bukovinca cave) on Crimea and western Ukraine. In co-operation with the University of Lvov.
