Integrative Analysis of the State of Knowledge Regarding Health and Einvironmental Risks of Nanotechnology, Including Establishing a Clearing House (NanoTrust)
(09/2007 – 04/2013)

The central aim of this research project is to continuously survey, summarise and analyse the available knowledge on health and environmental risks of nanotechnology. For the first time in Austria, these important aspects of technology development will be investigated in a systematic way rather than on the level of individual R&D projects, that is on a meta level. We aim at making transparent possible gaps in research and differing evaluations. This so-called “risk radar” will be the basis for a “clearing house” for questions regarding potential health and environmental risks. The nano team at ITA will serve as an information hub and as a discussion catalyst: A service point for questions regarding the assessment of safety aspects will be established aimed at serving both the general public, public administration and the nano research community.
