Barry Dickson receives Wittgenstein-Prize 2005

Barry J. Dickson, Senior Scientist at IMBA, is one of two Wittgenstein Prize winners 2005.

On July 8th he was presented with the most prestigious Austrian science prize by Federal Chancellor Wolfgang Schüssel and the president of the Austrian Science Fund, Georg Wick. The prize is worth EUR 1,3 Million over a period of five years. 

Dickson received the prize for his outstanding work on the development and function of neuronal networks based on the model-organism Drosophila melanogaster. Earlier this year, he and his team were able to identify a master gene in complex innate behavior.
