The Association EURATOM-ÖAW coordinates research and development projects since 1996 at Universities, other research establishments and industry. Research activities are part of the European Fusion Development Agreement (EFDA) framework and are supported by the European Commmission under the contract of Association between Euratom and the Austrian Academy of Sciences.

EFDA

The main research areas of the Association EURATOM-ÖAW are Plasma Physics (edge plasma theory, simulation, diagnostics and transport theory), Fusion Technology (materials research, divertormaterials, superconducting magnets) and Socio-Economics (risk management, long-term energy scenarii). The Association EURATOM-ÖAW cooperates not only with research institutes, the Association also keeps in touch with Austrian industry and the Austrian Federal Economic Chamber.
