Services

The Public Relations Office coordinates the internal and external communication. It offers several services for the Media and the Interested Public.

In its main building on Dr. Ignaz Seipel-Platz 2, 1010 Vienna, and in the nearby "Herbert-Hunger-Haus", Sonnenfelsgasse 19, the Austrian Academy of Sciences owns a number of historical rooms. The Academy is pleased to provide these locations for scientific events, such as lectures, conferences and symposiums as well as for cultural events and scientific exhibitions.

Since 1973 the Austrian Academy of Sciences has its own publishing house, the Austrian Academy of Sciences Press, in which latest achievements of scientific research are published. Some 60 to 80 new publications are coming out every year. The Austrian Academy of Sciences Press also offers long-term serial works as well as historical sound recordings.

Research findings of the Academy are supposed to be also digitally published and, respecting legal and commercial circumstances, made available to the public.

The Austrian Academy of Sciences possesses one of the most important libraries in Austria, containing more than 300,000 volumes. Among other historical documents, the Academy archives include the unpublished works of numerous scholars.

The International Relations Department looks after the EU matters of the Austrian Academy of Sciences.

The promotion of international contacts has always been one of the major tasks of the Austrian Academy of Sciences. Presently, it is involved in 47 contracts on research cooperation with partner institutions in 43 countries.

The responsibility of the administrative units is to look after scientific matters, personnel, promotion of junior scientists, finances, building projects als well as international relations of the Austrian Academy of Sciences.

The responsibility assignment provides the responsibilities of the staff members within the administration.

The working group on equality of treatment deals with all matters concerning equality of treatment and the promotion of women at Austrian Academy of Sciences.

The Computing Center provides a variety of computing services to meet the instructional and research needs of the Academy. In particular, it provides data network services for all its institutions and gives advice in computing affairs.
