Bilateral Agreements on Research Cooperation
One important feature of the Austrian Academy of Sciences is that it provides a link for research projects throughout the world. The promotion of international contacts has always been one of the major tasks of the Academy. Presently, it is involved in 47 contracts on research cooperation with partner institutions (academies abroad or comparable institutions) in 43 countries.
Exchange of Scientists
Visitors to the Austrian Academy of Sciences are asked to submit applications for research stays in Austria at their respective academies ( partner institutions ). They must also submit an invitation from a research institution of the Austrian Academy of Sciences or from a member of the Austrian Academy of Sciences.
Within the framework of the bilateral agreements on research cooperation members of the Austrian Academy of Sciences and staff members as well as scientists temporarily involved in research projects of the Austrian Academy of Sciences are offered financial support of their research stays abroad. Applications must be submitted within the period of registration at the International Relations Department of the Austrian Academy of Sciences. After the proposal has been approved in the session of the respective section of the Academy, it is passed on to the partner institution in the host country.

Betreffend Einladungen von Wissenschaftlern aus dem Ausland zu einem Forschungsaufenthalt in Österreich wird als erste Maßnahme um Vorlage des Erhebungsblattes in der Abteilung "Forschungsservice und Internationale Beziehungen" ersucht.
