Migration and Literature
Theories, approaches and readings
Many large-scale migratory movements over the last centuries involved or brought about writers who have gained considerable fame within their countries of residence and beyond. They have also received ample attention from literary scholars. But there are almost no overviews of what has been achieved so far in the individual disciplines, let alone in literary studies in general in this particular field. Our workshop aims to fill this gap by analysing how literary scholars have studied immigrant and ethnic minority writers in different national contexts over the last three decades. The papers will look at both classical immigration countries, such as Australia, Canada and the United States, and various European countries.
