Q:
What sorts of submissions are being considered for the HANNES ANDROSCH PRIZE?
A:
The Scientific Advisory Council wants to stimulate new research and
considers the precise answering of the called question mandatory.
The aim is to bring forward new ideas and break new ground, based on
solid evidence (state of knowledge, state of the art).
Q:
What topics need to be covered by the submission?
A:
Answering the called question is considered mandatory. A submission
dealing with the question in a broad or indirect manner is considered
unsatisfactory.
Q:
Can I submit previously published works such as a thesis paper, or
papers already published in scientific journals?
A:
This can be problematic, as rights of use must be granted to the
publishing house of the Austrian Academy of Sciences.
Q:
Will a winning submission be published by the HANNES ANDROSCH
FOUNDATION or the Austrian Academy of Sciences?
A:
The winning submission will be published online by the
Austrian Academy of Sciences, and the publishing house
of the Austrian Academy of Sciences reserves the right
to publish the submission as a book.
Q:
Is there a limit on length or a desired range of length on the submission?
A:
At least a long essay would be welcome. Due to the amount awarded
by the HANNES ANDROSCH PRIZE, a short submission like an article
is considered unsatisfactory.
Q:
Can I submit a joint publication?
A:
While joint publications are not technically barred from entering
the contest, we require a very detailed report on the participation
of the authors, to enable us to split the HANNES ANDROSCH PRIZE
equitably.
Q:
Is there an age limit to be eligible for the HANNES ANDROSCH PRIZE?
A:
There is no age limit for the HANNES ANDROSCH PRIZE.
Q:
Is there a required citizenship to be eligible for the HANNES
ANDROSCH PRIZE?
A:
No. You do not have to be Austrian, nor do you have to work in
Austria to be eligible for the HANNES ANDROSCH PRIZE.
