“The objective of the Breath Research Institute (BRI) is to provide a top-class environment for basic research in analysis of exhaled breath. Volatiles emitted through breath or skin carry important information. Real-time analysis of exhaled breath, even in breath-to-breath resolution, gives access to important information on the biochemistry of the human body. A further focus is on breath tests using 13C-labeled compounds, which allow to determine enzyme activities and provide important contributions to personalized medicine.”
